DLI NEWSLETTER 20 MAY 2021
|
|

Summer School Director, Ollie Kenny, and his team are working together to finalise our list of tutors and courses for the DLI Summer School 31 July-7 August. More news on that in our next newsletter!
Outdoor rehearsals for 15 people max (with all Covid precautions in place) have been possible since 10 May, so hopefully some of you will be able to move beyond the inevitable Zoom session at last!
The information below is taken from The Path Ahead on www.gov.ie.
- From 10 May, an increase in the numbers that can meet outdoors for social/recreational purposes, including in private gardens – maximum of 3 households or 6 people from any number of households. This limit of 6 does not include their children aged 12 or younger.
- Organised outdoor gatherings with a maximum attendance of 15 people.

 DLI Membership Insurance Scheme Paused
The Board of the DLI has agreed with Marsh Insurance that members may pause their Insurance premium until such time as they begin rehearsals again. Premiums will then be due on a pro rata basis for the months to June 2022. Groups must quote their current 2021 DLI group membership number to avail of this special offer. The annual full year insurance premium is €360, a very considerable saving to DLI affiliated members.

A Message from One Act Secretary, Ollie Kenny:
ONE ACT CIRCUIT 2021
The DLI/ADCI Joint Committee have decided not to make a call on the running of the one act circuit just yet. All the soundings from the health authorities are very positive, and we may well see the reopening of theatres in the not too distant future.
With the rollout of the vaccination programme going very well, and all the relevant Covid measurement metrics going in the right direction, we would be optimistic that the one act circuit may indeed happen this year. It most likely will not be what we had been used to, with social distancing, face masks in place for audiences, etc and plays with limited casts and crews, but we do hope to run the festivals in some format in 2021.
So, what do all you groups out there think? Would you have the desire to participate on the one act circuit this year? Can you let us know asap if your group would be willing to go out this October/November, assuming that there may be some limitations, but with the health and safety of everyone involved being of the utmost priority. Replies to 6and6secretary@gmail.com please.
Best wishes as always
Ollie Kenny

Dear DLI Members
I trust that you are all keeping well and enjoying gently and safely re-emerging into society after what has been, indeed, a very trying period.
As you know, I have been recently appointed to the DLI board and have taken over as editor of the DLI Magazine. This is a role that I am very much looking forward to undertaking, following in the footstep of the many who have previously successfully served as editor of this dramatic tome.
With this in mind, I wish to give you my contact details if you have anything you would like to send in for consideration for the magazine (next issue due Sep/Oct). The drama offering has been very compromised over the last fifteen months, but many groups have, and will, I’m sure, continue to innovatively bring drama to your loyal audiences.
If you have any details/pictures etc of what you are up to, I would love to hear from you! Similarly if there is an article, opinion piece, review or other such material that you would be interested in submitting , please contact me on edward@edwardhayden.ie. I look forward to hearing from you in the fullness of time, and in the meantime I wish you well.
Mise le meas
Edward Hayden
