We are delighted that bookings are continuing to come in for the 55th annual DLI Summer School in University of Limerick.  All course details on www.dli.ie/theatretraining. Even if you can't commit to the week 31 July - 7 August yourself, perhaps you know a member of your group who you feel might benefit from the Summer School experience? Please spread the word!  We are focussing on Course A :Tread Softly this week for those who may be new to Summer School, or who want to brush up their skills.
 
There are details below of three county councils which are offering half or full bursaries to their county citizens - you can check out what YOUR local Arts Office might be making available on www.localartsireland.ie

55th DLI SUMMER SCHOOL BURSARIES
The Arts Department of Wexford County Council is pleased to announce Drama League of Ireland Scholarship which provides two scholarships for the Drama League of Ireland’s 55th Residential Summer School which takes place at the University of Limerick from 31 July – 7 August 2021.  Local amateur participants and members of drama societies are invited to apply for this scholarship.

The deadline for receipt of all applications is Tuesday 22 June 2021 before 4.00pm.  Late and / or incomplete applications will not be accepted.



 

Limerick City and County Council is pleased to announce an open call for the Drama League of Ireland Summer School Bursary 2021.
 
Limerick Culture & Arts Office, Limerick City and County Council, is offering one bursary to attend the Drama League of Ireland Summer School 2021 at the University of Limerick. This bursary will cover €400 towards tuition fees (lectures, workshop etc.). Please note full fees for 2021 are: €450 (members) or €530 (non-members). The purpose of this bursary is to support professional development.
 
Please confirm course availability with DLI Director Ollie Kenny on 085 1742044 before applying for bursary support.

Applicants must be resident in the Limerick City and County Council administrative area and be able to demonstrate this, and must not be in receipt of a bursary towards this event from any other Local Authority. Applicants must be over 18 at time of booking.

Galway County Council is pleased to offer half a bursary for DLI Summer School in July 2021 for a County Galway resident.
 
Please apply to summerschool@dli.ie, and Bursary information/ documentation will then be forwarded to the successful candidate.
 
 It is expected that the recipient will forward a short summary of the summer school experience to Galway County Arts Office following the week's course.
 
 
The closing date for applications is 5pm, Monday 28th June 2021.
 
 
 
 
SPOTLIGHT ON COURSE A  
 Course A is an extremely versatile course that offers a toolkit of stage techniques for both actors and directors. It may be suitable for: 
 
 
 
 
•Those who are new to acting and are looking for a good foundation for moving forward.
  • Those who may be acting for quite a while but are new to Summer School/Workshops.
  • Those who may have done other courses and might want to refresh their basic skills.
  • Those looking to work with a new tutor for a new perspective.
This year Course A is entitled Tread Softly and is being given by Catherine Sheridan.

TWO DAY WORKSHOP in CO WEXFORD!

 
Sally Stevens from Coolgreany Drama has an exciting invitation:
 
Coolgreany Drama, in conjunction with the Drama League of Ireland, are hosting a two day outdoor workshop on Saturday June 26th and Sunday June 27th. The facilitator is Geoff O’Keeffe, well known director and theatre practitioner.
 
The venue is beautiful, in the grounds of Knockbawn, a Georgian farmhouse on the outskirts of Coolgreany, Co Wexford. The times are 11am until 6pm each day with a break for lunch (which you will have brought with you).  
 
The group requests a contribution of €20 per participant.

JOHN MCDWYER PLAYS
Leitrim playwright John McDwyer has an interesting offer for groups hoping to participate in the 2022 ADCI Full Length Circuit:
 
 
Here are details of the plays I am making available royalty free for Festival productions in 2022.  All non festival performances will attract the usual royalties.  I hope that this may be of help to any group which may be struggling, financially, to get a festival play on the road.
