He is a Trinidadian reggae artist. His first major international hit was “Ganja Farmer” which was released in 2006 and became an international reggae classic, known and played worldwide. Marlon later went on to release more popular reggae hits such as “Fit and Strong” (2006), “Ganja Cowboy” (2011), “Babylon Brutality” (2015), and more recently “Mama Say” (2019), “Reggae Music” with Anthony B (2019), “Family Love” (2020), and “Use Me” (2021). He was awarded the COTT award (Copyright Organization of Trinidad and Tobago) in 2019 for best reggae dancehall artist.
In his youth he was a member of the Mount Ararat Spiritual Baptist Church Choir and later on he embraced the Rasta faith and is a pioneer of the Trinidadian reggae movement. He has toured with other roots reggae artists such as Sizzla, Slightly Stoopid, Maxi Priest, Beenie Man, Capleton, Fortunate Youth, Pressure Busspipe, Matisyahu, Katchafire, Kottonmouth Kings and even the American R & B Sensation Boyz II Men. Marlon did nine dates on the Slightly Stoopid’s 2019 amphitheater tour. He has toured the US, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Canada, Africa and Europe. He paved the way for other Trinidad artists (Jah Melody, Khari Kill, I-Sasha, Jah Bami and more)
He has been steadily recording. He released two billboard top ten albums in 2019, one was “Rebirth” with Vas Productions. Sizzla To Release ‘On A High’ Album On Independence Day, August 6
Eight years after he released his 70th album The Messiah, which copped a Grammy nomination, Sizzla Kalonji is On A High, as he edges closer to the 100-album mark with his new 12-track production set for release on Independence day, August 6.

Coming on the heels of his last album Million Times, this album On a High, is not unexpected though, as Sizzla is by far one of the most prolific songwriters in Reggae and Dancehall, that Jamaica has ever produced, with a catalogue of more than 80 albums, more than 20 of which have hit the Billboard charts.

Million Times, which was released last October has been reportedly making an impact on the Latin market.

The On A High album has been available for pre-purchase on all digital platforms just over a week now, and Sizzla has so far released one track titled Crown on Your Head, the content of which surrounds being discerning in order to avoid being exploited and to keep striving towards ones goals.

Just over a week ago Sizzla posted a video of himself at his recording studio at Windward Road, with his first producer Caveman, who from all indications has a hand in his new album. “Remember your roots and don’t bite the hands that feed you, neva” Sizzla said as he put Caveman in the spotlight.

Release from Chuck Foster DREADER DUB
Dub is the essence of reggae, stripped of the superfluous — like the prose of Dasheill Hammett or the Haiku. — so succinct —no more need be said.

Without dub and version there would be no DJ style and this uniquely Jamaican form has led to innovations and permutations that resound in all forms of music today. Whether you crank it to full volume to catch each nuance or treat it as background music to get you through the day...dub is here to stay.

Chuck Foster's name is well known in reggae circles around the globe.Author of two books on the music (with a third projected for this summer) he wrote the Reggae Update column for two decades for Beat Magazine and for the last ten years has penned the Readings and Reasonings column for Reggae Festival Guide.

He produced two various artist anthologies and released five previous dub and seven vocal albums on the Catch Me Times imprint.

Host of Reggae Central on KPFK in L.A., he has been a mainstay of reggae radio in Southern California for over three decades. Dreader Dub dubs up tracks from his most recent release Love Foundation. He and cohort Mike Irwin eschewed the vocals on this set and went straight to the heart of dub --- drum and bass with effect-laden instruments flitting in and out of the mix on sturdy tracks utilizing the talents of a team of seasoned musicians including Rough Sounds' Alberto Fernandez and multi-instrumentalist Mystery Man on guitars, Mike Irwin on bass, Studio One and Channel One stalwart Tony Bird on keys, Arise Roots' Todd Johnson on trumpet, Lai Hee on percussion and drum tracks from UK's Horseman.

Click here right now & give a listen.
See if this sturdy dub doesn't make your day
a little more enjoyable!

New Album Release - JAH MYHRAKLE "EYC ON FYAH"
New York - Gold Den Arkc Recordsz is proud to present Roots Reggae Artist Jah Myharkle’s new album, EYC ON FYAH, grafted with an intensity to hit the soul with a high level of meditation.

Roots Reggae fans will sync with the completed album, EYC ON FYAH as it conveys a vibrancy of powerful messages from a secular perspective. This is Jah Myharkle’s 4th Album.

In the title track "EYC ON FYAH”, the artist vividly drafts an immense landscape of Emperor Haile Selassie 1st powerful revelations, while being amongst the leaders of nations and as the Godhead. As the listener grooves through the title track, they will no doubt connect with the algorithm of the metaphysics and the algebraic calculative layout.

The lyrical content here highlights the relevance of Emperor Haile Selassie 1st and also works of the ancient 'builders' those who are of the origins.

Producer Phallu Ras Sound has this to say about the album: “The construction of these musical arrangements was built with the intent to bring a refreshing vibration to the roots and culture communities. Hard baselines and thunderous heartbeat drum patterns combine with fine acoustics and percussions. The instrumentation and compositions are designed to heighten the soul to an angelic realm. As the producer, I am a livicated supporter of the 70's era roots reggae. In this project I chose to activate my gifts of ancient vibrations to serve the need for roots and culture by creating music that comforts the soul with a fresh modern frequency. Bringing this royal package to the table of offering the messenger is presented with radiance which can inspire the brightest of his talents.”

From Germany...UWE BANTON releases new album - FREE YOUR MIND
A critical take on current affairs and spirituality converge in a Roots-Reggae styled extravaganza Uwe Banton, firm fixture on the German Reggae scene, and a known dreadlocked Rastafarian, has just dropped his new album titled “Free Your Mind”. Expect a smooth blend of Caribbean riddims, conscious lyrics and musical mastery.

Banton’s new album will be available on CD and all major digital download/streaming services. Blend of Roots, Reggae, Ska, Lovers Rock, Rocksteady and Afrobeat; true to Jamaica’s motto “Out Of Many, One People”. The opening track, “Ark of the Covenant”, is an extremely and literally heartfelt track, starting off with heartbeat-like drums and setting the scene for the many musical revelations to come.

Uwe Banton, whose real name is Uwe Schäfer, is a true northwestern original from the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany, but is also known well beyond the country’s borders. The 55-year-old singer has earned his place in the Reggae hall-of-fame, way beyond the European scene, and has a dedicated worldwide following. Uwe Banton’s fourth studio album is the result of a collaboration with Ganjaman, another Reggae heavyweight out of Germany, and bears witness to Banton’s affinity to his Rastafari faith, a spiritual philosophy that has its roots in Jamaica; just like Reggae Music itself. Banton celebrates the roots of Reggae in his music, continuing to spread the message of Rastafari out into the world. Whimsical and easy, yet at the same time, highly profound, Banton asks some of the big questions about the meaning of human nature and life itself, on the brand-new album: “Free your Mind”

Banton sings about freeing the mind and reminds us of important values that might bring us closer to our true selves and to ultimately making the world a better place.

“Free Your Mind” bespeaks the international appeal of both Reggae—the music of the Rastafarians, which has been a global phenomenon since the 1970s—and of the Rastafarian lifestyle itself, which also keeps inspiring people everywhere.
