American reggae band Big Mountain featured on Freedom Sound rhythm

Billboard-charting American reggae band Big Mountain is among the international acts featured on the Freedom Sound rhythm project by Donsome Records.

The Freedom Sound rhythm is due for release on September 17.

The other international acts featured on the project are Marina Peralta from Brazil, Kings and Comrades from Philadelphia, Canada-based vocalist Ammoye, Pressure Buss Pipe from the US Virgin Islands and King Tappa from New Jersey.

In a media release, producer Adrian ‘Donsome’ Hanson explained the inspiration behind the project.

“Freedom Sound is the follow up to our previous project the Black Tears rhythm. Creatively, we felt that after the tears we must free ourselves. So, Freedom Sound is all about feeling free to be yourself,” said Hanson.

He said the project took six months to complete.

“I wanted to have artistes from other side of the world who have been doing reggae with the same goal and fight that helped to birth reggae. Marina Peralta is from Brazil and she is one of the artistes who sings about the fight and struggles that we face daily.”

According to Hanson, it wasn’t difficult to get the artistes involved in the project.

“Anthony B, Lutan Fyah, Chezidek and Perfect Giddimani were on my last project, so it wasn't hard to get them on this one. I wanted to step out the box and bring different vibes to this project, hence the reason I decided to work with artistes such as Grammy Award winner Mykal Rose, Big Mountain, Marina Peralta, Junior Kelly, Pressure Buss Pipe and Kings and Comrades. I always give a couple new artistes the chance to showcase their talent, so King Tappa reach out to me at the right time and I'm really proud of his track.”

The first three singles, Likes of Jah by Pressure Buss Pipe, Want to be Free by Anthony B, and Good People (Johnny Good) by Chezidek and Perfect Giddimani will be released digitally this Friday September 10.  The full project is to be released on September 17.

The other tracks featured on the Freedom Sound rhythm are Good People by Chezidek, Stop and Smell the Roses by Ammoye, Rise to the Top by Kings and Comrades, Love Spell by King Tappa, No More Lies by Junior Kelly, I Give You Love by Mykal Rose, Freedom Fighters by Marina Peralta, Hear that Sound by Big Mountain, Fade Away by Lutan Fyah and Greatest by Richie Spice.

Former sprinter Usain Bolt’s debut album ‘Country Yutes’ lands #1 on iTunes Reggae Charts: S
Frequently, professionals from other disciplines dream of being successful recording artists (Drake, Jamie Foxx), so it is no surprise that the man, who was once the world’s fastest man, pushed forward with another goal. When you were sleeping, the former Jamaican professional athlete with eight Olympic gold medals under his belt, Usain Bolt, released his debut album titled ‘Country Yutes’. The collaboration is with his best friend, Nugent “NJ” Walker, the primary featured artist on the fourteen-track project.

The album is now #1 on the iTunes Reggae
Charts.

There are four visual components (‘It’s a Party’, ‘Living the Dream’, ‘Need Your Love’, and ‘Sayless’) available.

"If you have followed my career over the years, you would see me always dancing and listening to music. It’s no secret to the world that I love music. Music has just always been a part of my DNA." — Usain Bolt

New Song from Anthony Garvey - Soldier On
Roots reggae singer Anthony Garvey once recorded and performed under his surname alone, and did so in good conscience, given that his great-grandfather was Marcus Garvey, the most celebrated figure in all of reggae music save for Haile Selassie.

It appears the now fuller-named younger Garvey has only one previous album to his name despite the lineage of the name, so the title of his latest seems a fitting description of what he’s done to bring his music to the world. Having previously sung alongside the likes of Kiddus I and had his music mixed by Scientist, Garvey has been blessed with the kind of good company that pointed him in the right direction as well.

Soldier On is uncompromising roots music, with Garvey’s gruffly melodic, half-chanted vocals rising and falling with the riddims while he throws light from a fire of burning issues.

“Justice” cries out on behalf of those who need that very thing, the militancy of the title track is further bolstered by “Jah Warrior Soldier,” the Creator is praised by many names on “Hail Him” and the sidestep into lover’s rock that is “Just a little Bit” shows Garvey able to dig deep even when the roots are the sweeter kind. A nicely crackling band is responsible for the music and the harmonies that Garvey touches down in, and a helping of mixing, mastering and versioning by the venerable Jim Fox further assures that nothing but real reggae is what you’ll get here. And you should get it. –Tom Orr/Legacy Music Productions

IN JAH'S NAME
Sometimes things don’t go the way we want them to. Sometimes we feel inundated with challenges and difficulties. Out of habit, our normal reaction to these events is to regard the situation itself as the problem. Happiness and suffering only exist within the mind.In reality, however, all of our problems arise from our own mind. To those unfamiliar with their mind, this sounds counter-intuitive or completely false, but if we take the time to investigate deeply we will discover this truth for ourselves. When we can respond to life’s difficulties with a positive and peaceful mind, they suddenly seem to melt away into nothing right before our eyes. Indeed, we may even come to view them as exciting challenges for personal and spiritual growth. Problems only really arise when we adopt a negative state of mind in response to a difficult or unexpected situation. Because of this, if we want to free ourselves from all our problems, we must gain control of our mind.
