Zoom with Shawn Kellerman :: CHOCOLATE CAKE
"Are You Ready"

Big... Bad... Boom!
That's the sensation you feel when this loud, dynamic, over-the-top woman hits the stage. Zoom is old school, new school, and everything the blues should be.... raw, real, honest and sincere!

Zoom was born on a small farm in Romulus Michigan, but has cut a path to stages all over the US, Canada, Europe and the Middle East.

Hitting the road in the 90’s and gaining recognition, she was invited to join prestigious Chicago Blues Tours across Europe. Sharing the stage with some of her idols like Koko Taylor, Bobby Bland, Albert King, James Cotton, Junior Wells, John Primer, Lucky Peterson, Billy Branch and Maurice Vaughn just to name a few.

Things were definitely moving up, up, up, but Zoom made a sudden stop and took a two-decade hiatus from the music business to raise her family.
After that time, and making the decision to get back in the business, she contacted her old friend, guitarist Shawn Kellerman.

In that time away from the music business, Shawn had been touring with his own band plus blues greats like Bobby Rush, Sherman Robertson and Lucky Peterson, in over 40 countries.

When Zoom and Shawn reconnected, Shawn had been touring with Lucky Peterson for 8 years and was producing Lucky’s newest album, celebrating Lucky’s 50 years in the business.

Now with a brand new CD, Chocolate Cake, released Sept 20, 2021, you can witness Zoom’s vocal power and drive with Shawn’s high energy guitar that will shake its listeners to their core...and leave them begging for more!

Life in Tune: 98-year-old J. Warren Watson plays the blues to beat the blues
(PITTSBURGH, PA) - Whenever retired Judge J. Warren Watson, 98, is feeling down, he picks up his electric wind instrument and blows it out of his system.

“I don't let things beat me up,” he said. “Playing music is one of the most relaxing things you can do.”

Judge Watson grew up in Homewood and graduated in 1940 from Westinghouse High School. He played trumpet in the school band under the direction of the legendary Carl McVicker Sr. Upon graduation, he played lead trumpet in the Navy band while stationed in San Diego.

After completing military service, he returned to Pittsburgh and through the GI Bill earned Bachelor’s and law degrees at Duquesne University while performing in Joe Westray's band. The band played blues music and arrangements from organ groups like Wild Bill Davis and Bill Doggett.

After retiring from the Allegheny Court of Common Pleas, Judge Watson has lived in the Hill District and continued to practice and perform. Before the pandemic began last year, he had been hosting jam sessions at his home.

“I've kept my music with me every step of the way,” he said.
