33rd Annual Battle of The Blues Harps Nov 24
(LONG BEACH, CA) - For 33 years the Battle of the Blues Harps has featured the very best harp players from all over the world. In 2021, we raise the ante even higher, with a collection of blues harp legends who will literally blow you away on November 24, Thanksgiving weekend at the Gaslamp, 5261 E. Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, California.

The headliner is Rick Estrin & the Nightcats, the award-winning international blues band who would be a complete show all by themselves - but there's much more.

We lost a real blues harp legend in 2021 - so we are re-forming the James Harman Band with its original members - along with some very special guests on harmonica. That band included Kid Ramos, Willie J. Campbell and Stephen Hodges, who are all featured - along with a variety of harp-meisters.

If that's not enough to get your heart rate pumping, you won't believe who else is appearing: Prepare to rock out with the Atomic 44s, featuring Eric Von Herzen and Johnny Main with their all-star band. Before that, 2,000 Lbs. of Blues performs with Mike Arguello, Junior Watson, Taryn Donath, Tex Nakamura, Ron Felton and John Bazz of the Blasters on bass.

Not enough talent on one stage? Openers Celso Salim and Darryl Carriere will get you in the mood, while two special video tributes to Harpist/Emcee Barry G and Pianist Gene Taylor will fill the gaps between bands.

Don't miss out on the Battle of the Blues Harps No. 33 - we are pulling out all the stops to make this the Best… One… Yet! Reserve your seats here

Sean Chambers :: THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKIN ABOUT
"Chunky"
Website

Acclaimed blues-rock guitarist/singer Sean Chambers latest release, That’s What I’m Talkin About, is a tribute to legendary former Howlin’ Wolf guitarist Hubert Sumlin. Recorded in March 2020 just before the coronavirus shut everything down, the Florida-based Chambers went into Showplace Studios in Dover, New Jersey, for the sessions of his 8th album. That’s What I’m Talkin About was engineered and produced by Showplace owner Ben Elliott, who suddenly passed away shortly after the album was recorded. In addition to Sean Chambers (guitar, vocals) and members of his band, That’s What I’m Talkin About also features guest appearances from lauded keyboardists Bruce Katz and John Ginty.

The 11 tracks on the new disc include 10 songs Sean regularly performed on the road as a member of Hubert Sumlin’s touring band, as well as “Hubert’s Song,” a Chambers original saluting Sumlin. The music showcases a tour-de force of Sean’s blazing guitar pyrotechnics.

“This album is a tribute to my mentor, and friend, the late great Hubert Sumlin,” Sean Chambers says. “I look back on that time with Hubert as my ‘college education in the blues....That's What I'm Talkin About’ was a phrase that Hubert used to say a lot, so we thought it would be a fitting name for this album." During Sean's tenure with Sumlin, Guitarist magazine (Britain) named Chambers as "One of the top 50 blues guitarists of the last century."

Just in case:
"International Chef's Day" is observed all over the world on October 20 of every year. The day celebrates chefs and spreads awareness about eating healthy. Every year, a theme is decided for International Chefs Day —  2020 and 2021 are focused on "Healthy Food for the Future."

That's always good for real... but all I was starting to think about was any blues-type songs with double entendre titles or lyrics about food... I suppose some are terms of endearment that are "healthy options" in a different vein... sugar coated love, I need a little sugar in my bowl, it ain't the meat it's the motion, gimme a pigfoot and bottle of beer, candyman blues, diggin' my potatoes and so on. Whatcha got?
