3 QUICK WAYS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF HOMELESS PETS:
|
- Thanks to social media, getting the word out about adoptable dogs has never been easier. If you didn't adopt your dog you can become an advocate for your breed. Maybe it will help a dog of the same breed get adopt or re-homed. "Share" a quick pic of a dog that needs a home on your social media. It only takes a second and chances are you know a lot of dog lovers or people who are considering a dog of their own.
- You can raise awareness for shelters. Check local shelters near you and see if they are hosting any events. Chances are good that you can get involved and help raise awareness for what the shelter needs to make dogs’ & cats' lives better.
- A simple way to help encourage others to adopt and make a difference in a dog’s life is to share your own dog’s story. Where did you meet your dog? Was it love at first sight? What were the challenges, and how has your pup changed your life for the better? Showing the positive impact your dog has had on your life is a great way to show others that a dog might be right for them, too. You’ll be helping to encourage adoption, and it’s a great opportunity to talk all about your dog, which is something we dog owners are always happy to do.

2022 IS FOR TRAINING & TRICKS
|
Make this the year your dog finally walks well on a leash or the year your cat stays off the counters. Here are some training basics for both cats and dogs:
- Don’t let your pet always get their way.
- Never punish your pet physically. Physical force will often cause a loss of trust and create aggression or fear.
- Reward your pet’s good behaviors. You can reward your pet by giving your pet tasty treats, affection, new toys, etc.
- Figure out the triggers for bad behavior and eliminate them.
- Ignore her if she plays rough.
- Establish a routine to reinforce good behaviors.

Hi my name is Skippy and I am a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever adopted from animal services. I love to play with my squeaky toys, doesn't everyone? Can you keep a secret? I love to lick ice cream bowls, they are so sweet and cool. Yum! I am a good pup but sometimes I can be mischievous and get in to the trash. I am so loved that of course I get to sleep in bed with my human dad.
