The Lambsbread releases "Show Love" video for the title track off their latest album
|
Filmed on the beautiful island of Maui, the Lambsbread delivers their first video of 2022
an epic glimpse of the livity and vibes of the Hawaiian Islands with the music video for "Show Love" released Feb. 1 to kick off
Reggae month.
The video takes us on a journey across the island, bringing in the diversity and unity of the people of Maui. Shot in 4k, the video captures the amazing beauty of the Lambsbread's home island along with the unique character of the community.
Based around the lyrics of the song the video highlights the message "Show Love, spread love, one love, give a little more love". Also coming into play in the video is the more introspective lyrics of the verses, "stand tall like the mountain peak, love in our hearts we won't take no defeat". Reminding us to first look inside and find that love for ourselves so we can spread it out to others.
Shot by keyboard player and videographer for the Lambsbread, 17yr old Jacob Selassie, Show Love is the first video in a series of videos from the new album set to be released this year.
Produced and recorded by 21 yr. old drummer and producer for the Lambsbread Samuel Levi,
the song and the video gives us that "One Love" feeling that people love from reggae music.
When asked about the latest video, singer songwriter Kaya had this to say about the project, "we wanted to give the people a vibes for what it is like to be in Hawaii, and also show the diversity of the Hawaii people, to express the Aloha that is still a very real part of the community"
Show Love is out now on the Lambsbread's official youtube channel www.youtube.com/thelambsbread

GROUNDATION DROP THEIR SINGLE FROM UPCOMING STUDIO ALBUM
|
"ORIGINAL RIDDIM” FEATURING ISRAEL VIBRATION & THE ABYSSINIANS OUT NOW ON BACO RECORDS/EASY STAR RECORDS
More than two decades into a storied career, Groundation returns this year with their 10th studio album, One Rock. The band, formed in 1998 by vocalist/guitarist Harrison Stafford, has helped define American roots reggae, while building a large and loyal following in Europe and Brazil, where they have been a consistent major headliner and festival attraction for years. One Rock keeps their sound and legacy moving ever forward through 9 intense songs featuring complex arrangements, moving melodies, and lyrics that touch on the human condition, human spirit, and the state of the world. Always a group to respect their elders and forebears, Groundation makes history yet again by bringing together the legendary reggae vocal groups Israel Vibration and The Abyssinians on the record’s first single, while also working with The Congos on another track. One Rock is set for release May 13, via a partnership between France’s BACO Records and the U.S.’s Easy Star Records. You can pre-save or pre-order vinyl, cd, and an exclusive tee shirt at https://moremusic.at/OneRockAlbum.
The album’s first single, “Original Riddim,” dropped on January 13, kicking off the pre-order period for the release. This song tells a universal story of how music is a part of the spark that began our human experience, “opening up the heavens of possibilities” and “expanding our minds into infinite degrees.” “Original Riddim” also welcomes the listener into the conversation, as Stafford provokes listeners with the line, “Before man walked and talked about, they formed a union where no tribe was left out, you are not left out!” A music video for the song, directed by Roger Hall and filmed on location in Jamaica, New York, Texas, Florida, and California, is being released the same day as the single. Just as the song brings together Israel Vibration and The Abyssinians for the first time, the video also treads new ground by having both groups, along with The Congos, alongside Groundation.
Look for much more news about Groundation and One Rock in the coming months leading up to the album’s release!

Etana Files Lawsuit Against VP Records Over Royalties
|
[NEW YORK] – Grammy-nominated singer Etana says her dispute with VP Records over alleged unpaid royalties caused her “many sleepless nights”. She filed a lawsuit against the Queens, New York company citing a number of royalty-related claims.
The lawsuit was filed in the Supreme Court of New York by Shauna McKenzie Morris and Freemind Music LLC against VP Records and their affiliates. Namely VP Records Retail Outlet Inc, VP Music Group Inc, VP Records Distributors LLC, VP Records of Brooklyn LLC, Greensleeves Publishing Ltd and STB Music Inc.
Etana, whose given name is Shauna McKenzie Morris, is represented by Miami Entertainment Law Group.
A statement from that firm read in part:
“Despite all the commercial success enjoyed by McKenzie, to date the defendants have not provided a formal accounting and they have not properly paid plaintiffs the royalties and the other income due to the plaintiffs under their agreements including but not limited to artiste royalties, mechanical royalties, public performance royalties, profits from the sale of merchandise and for any licensing fees.”
VP Records distributed four albums for Etana, starting with The Strong One in 2008. Their association ended six years later with “I Rise”.
“It was so frustrating I suffered from depression for a while. Many sleepless nights, years of not receiving royalties and the constant hoops to go through to get an answer that leads to no resolve made it even more frustrating.
Eventually, I got through it when I decided I would walk away from it all and just keep creating,” said Etana.
Founded in 1977, VP Records is known globally for distributing and marketing the music of reggae’s biggest acts including Beres Hammond, Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Shaggy and Sean Paul.

Grammy-Winning Reggae Star Gramps Morgan Granted Jamaican Citizenship
|
Gramps Morgan, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, is now an official citizen of Jamaica after being approved for citizenship by Jamaica’s passport agency and the Jamaican Consulate. The singer, producer, record executive, and entrepreneur, was raised partly in Springfield, Massachusetts, by his mother, Pearl Foster, and his father, Denroy Morgan, a well-known reggae artist. Morgan comes from a large family of 30 children. Most of his siblings are also in the music business. He attended Springfield Central High School and was a star on the football team, receiving several scholarship offers from colleges and universities throughout the US. His passion for music won out, however, and he pursued a career in entertainment.
Gramps Morgan followed his father into the music business, becoming part of the Morgan Heritage band in 1994 with four of his siblings: Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan, and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan. He plays keyboards and is a vocalist in the group, which has released 12 albums over its 20-plus years. This included “Strictly Roots,” which won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2016. Morgan Heritage was also nominated for two Grammys for the album “Avrakedabra,” which was released in 2017.

ISRAEL VIBRATION & ROOTS RADICS - 'Jah Guide Us' Tour - March, 2022
|
Catch Israel Vibration on tour in March!
Israel Vibration has an extensive catalog of music that consistently keeps coming with many classic hits such as Ball Of Fire, Get Up & Go, Cool & Calm, Why Worry, Vultures, Licks & Kicks, The Same Song Their latest album release is called Play it Real Along with the album there is a music video called Man Up.
Israel Vibration has done many major US tours with Kings Music International featuring Wiss and Skelly and Bunny Brissett on vocals. Their extensive music catalog spread out worldwide before the CD market went online. Ras Records and Jim Fox of Lion and Fox recording Studios in Washington DC were instrumental in setting their foundation as one of the greatest reggae groups in the history of reggae music.
Mention the name Israel Vibration in reggae music circles and watch the warmth of recognition and appreciation of anyone who has seen or heard this very special vocal group. The positive vibrations emanating from the music of Israel Vibration have been spellbinding audiences, critics and DJs for over three decades. The lead vocalists, Wiss and Skelly cast a harmonious musical spell, weaving traditional roots reggae with a mesmerizing sound and deeply spiritual message. Israel Vibrations have been touring very strong worldwide for many years. They are regularly featured internationally on most of the major Reggae Festivals.
Cecil Spence (Skelly) and Lascelle Bulgin (Wiss) were born in Jamaica. Each is a victim of Polio. They met as children in the Mona Rehabilitation Center into which they were placed because of their families' limited resources and their needs for specialized medical care. They learned early on the necessity for developing survival skills, and although polio is an undeniably crippling and debilitating disease, the youths never let their physically challenging situation overcome their willpower and creative abilities. They found strength in the faith of Rastafari through the guidance of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, and began composing and singing songs which expressed their spiritual beliefs.
Their spirituality and stance on issues relating to their residency at the Mona Rehabilitation Center caused them to be expelled from that institution. Undaunted, they found solace, comfort, and sustenance in their music, which won them the support of their local community and provided them with encouragement to pursue their music careers. They began recording in 1976, enjoying a hit with the poignant Same Song, which was licensed to EMI and brought the group international attention.
