The Blues Don’t Lie testifies Buddy Guy
For the follow up to his sixth Billboard #1 album, The Blues Is Alive And Well, Buddy reunited with his Grammy Award winning producer/songwriter and longtime collaborator Tom Hambridge, to bring us even more emotionally charged music with even more bone-chilling hard earned lyrics and lessons.
The Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award winner features guest appearances on this new LP from Mavis Staples, who guests on the forever timely and spellbinding “We Go Back.” He even partners with James Taylor on “Follow the Money,” a harmonious collaboration unmarred even by its focus on politics, sinister greed and more.

The Blues Don’t Lie is Buddy Guy’s follow up to his 2018 Billboard #1 Blues Album Chart lead The Blues Is Alive And Well, which debuted at #1, making it his thirteenth Top 10 Billboard Blues album. Always a welcomed return to music, he won “Best Blues Album” at the 2019 Grammy Awards. This all followed his 2015 album Born To Play Guitar, which also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Blues Album charts and won “Best Blues Album” at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

The recipient of the 2015 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Buddy Guy’s incredible career spans over 50 years with just as many albums released. Career highlights include 8 Grammy Awards, 38 Blues Music Awards, the most any artist has had, a Kennedy Center Honors, NARM Chairman’s Award for Sustained Creative Achievement, Billboard Music Awards' Century Award for distinguished artistic development, Presidential National Medal of Arts, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to name a few.

At 86 years young, Guy proves that it gets greater later as he continues to record and tour around the world with performances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater and more.

Pittsburgh legend Billy Price looks back on 50+ Years of Soul
Even if you never went to see Billy Price and the Keystone Rhythm Band back in the day — clearly your loss — you know the chorus to “El Dorado Cafe,” because it was in just about every promo for the band on WDVE.

But check the listing for the new 38-song, three-CD compilation, Billy Price: 50+ Years of Soul.

There’s no “El Dorado Cafe.”

“I deliberately didn’t make this a ‘greatest hits’ collection,” says the Pittsburgh R&B soul legend. “And honestly, I don't think it's a great recording. People disagree with that, probably. That’ll probably irritate a lot of people, but I just don't think it is.”

Also, he adds, “The point of putting this thing together for me was to introduce people to things that they may not have heard.”

There’s a lot to draw from, about 250 recordings, in the impressive Price catalog, which dates to 1973 when he was the hired-gun vocalist on That's What I'm Here For, the third album by Roy Buchanan, a Washington, D.C.-based guitar hero with a blistering tone.

Price, at the time, was the toast of Walnut Street, fronting The Rhythm Kings, a band that the New Jersey native (born Bill Pollak) formed with his friends at Penn State in 1970. The band was so popular at the Fox Cafe in Shadyside that its members decided to relocate here, changing the face of the Pittsburgh music scene for decades to come. …Read full story at Post Gazette by Scott Mervis

Mike Morgan and The Crawl ::
THE LIGHTS WENT OUT IN DALLAS
M.C. Records is proud to announce the recent release of the first recording by Mike Morgan and The Crawl in 15 years, The Lights Went Out In Dallas. The Texas bluesman got some help on the recording from guitarists Anson Funderburgh and Shawn Pittman. And Morgan says, “The Crawl rhythm section of Kevin Schermerhorn on Drums and Drew Allain on Bass is a force to be reckoned with.” The record features 14 songs, 11 of which are original compositions.

The Lights Went Out In Dallas is what Mike Morgan has been about for over 30 years, delivering deep Texas Blues with a touch of soul, R&B, and Americana. His guitar playing is as fiery as ever and makes you take notice. Guitar World Magazine called Morgan "a genuine blues guitar hero!!" Mike Morgan's first release came out in 1990 and he has recorded eight albums for Black Top Records and Severn Records. This marks the first release for M.C. Records and his 10th overall. Look for Mike Morgan and The Crawl to be performing more in the Fall and beyond.
The album is already out in Europe via Continental Record Service. M.C. Records is handling the promotion and distribution in North America, Japan, and Australia.

Just in Case: According to my "sources," October 1st is "CD Player Day." I bet many of you still have over maybe 100s of CDs (I do) and still purchase them here and there (which artists are still appreciative of). Over the years, the music scene has changed drastically, but the introduction of the CD player remains one of the music industry’s landmark events. On October 1, 1982, the first-ever CD (Compact Disc) player was released on the market. It massively upended the music industry. Gradually, CDs replaced both floppy disks and audio cassettes (and the boombox), beginning from the 1980s until the 2000s. Then things began to go digital... we have MP3s, and can download singles and listen to music on our phones. But then some reverted back to "cool" vinyl (also first known as phonograph or gramophone records). I don't think the 8-track or cassettes are coming back though. Eventually my own portable CD player took a nose-dive, but lo and behold, I got one that was my parents that is still in great shape. AND, my new-to-me 2016 car has a CD player in it! And I was stoked at the option!

Oh yeh, October 1st is also "International Coffee Day"... oh and "Homemade Cookies Day!" ... just saying. According to historical records, coffee is originally from Ethiopia, and its discovery in Africa comes with an interesting story...
