Downsound Records releases new single...Minister Marion Hall’s “I’m Doing Better” Catch her live at Reggae Sumfest 2023 in Jamaica
|
Minister Marion Hall releases a song that is a powerful message of triumph, praise and faith delivered in an engaging package that is a musical fusion of gospel, soul and R&B with flavours of rap, and dancehall. The song is a joint project by Minister Marion Hall, Downsound Entertainment CEO Joe Bogdanovich, and exceptional Jamaican musician and producer Gramps Morgan. Minister Marion Hall attributes the vision and rendering of the song to God’s work. “God is in the midst of everything to do with this song. She emphasized that, “ Joe and Gramps became a part of the song like parts of a divine puzzle”. Minister Marion Hall aims to ‘win souls for God’ at Reggae Sumfest Says she is filled with ‘more fire’ Click image to read article from Jamaican Gleaner
In commenting on her return to the Sumfest stage, Minister Hall noted that as a dancehall star she was the only woman who ever closed Sumfest and to be coming back to the stage in a different but far more powerful capacity was an amazing irony. She promised a riveting performance for her return to the Sumfest stage! CLICK HERE FOR REGGAE SUMFEST TICKETS
Bogdanovich expressed his pleasure in participating in what he considers a very special and exciting project. “Working with these two icons of Jamaican music has been a privilege for me. Their talent and professionalism were instructive, and a real pleasure and I am proud that our label is associated with this song which is not only destined to be a major hit but is such an inspiration”. Bogdanovich noted that “I’m Doing Better” would be a major element of the marketing of the 30th staging of Sumfest, a major milestone in the festival’s history. The Reggae Sumfest team will be pulling out all the stops to celebrate it. This collaboration with Minister Marion Hall and Gramps Morgan is the first of several such projects. Bogdanovich advised that other projects in the pipeline include Freddie McGregor, highlighting his indomitable will, and a tribute to King Jammy, legendary record producer of the reggae and dancehall genres whose work spans the 70s,80s and 90s and, “he is still raging”. There is also an alliance with The Mitchells as well as a project with Tommy Lee who will be touring high schools to share positive lifestyle messages. Reggae Sumfest 2023 is going to be a thrilling journey!

Reggae Musical The Harder They Come Opens at The Public Theater Off-Broadway March 15
Pulitzer winner Suzan-Lori Parks pens the musical adaptation of the classic Jamaican film.
|
The Public Theater's world premiere of The Harder They Come officially opens at the Off-Broadway company's Newman Theater March 15 after beginning previews February 16. The limited run will continue through March 26. Tony Taccone and Sergio Trujillo are at the helm with Edgar Godineaux choreographing.
The new work is adapted from the classic Jamaican film by Pulitzer winner Suzan-Lori Parks, working from producer-director Perry Henzell and Trevor Rhone's screenplay. Songs, which also include gospel and folk music, are by Jimmy Cliff. The story centers on Ivan, a singer who comes to Kingston, Jamaica, in search of stardom. After falling in love and cutting a record deal, Ivan learns the dark side of the music industry and enters a battle that threatens both his life and the fabric of Jamaican society.
The soundtrack of the 1972 film is credited with popularizing reggae music across the globe, and in 2021 was preserved by the Library of Congress as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." This is the second adaptation of the film to the stage, following a British attempt in the early 2000s.

ISRAEL VIBRATION & ROOTS RADICS - The Roots of The Roots - Live & Give US Tour - April 2023 - Float with the Note
|
ISRAEL VIBRATION & ROOTS RADICS toured the Western US in March 2022. They performed on The Reggae Campout Festival and The Republica Do Reggae Festival in Salvador Brazil.
The turnouts on their Western US tour were consistently strong. Fans were enthusiastic to come out and enjoy the best true classic roots reggae of the early days, the first generations. ISRAEL VIBRATION & ROOTS RADICS are scheduled to tour the US again in April 2023 and are scheduled to perform on the Dallas Reggae Festival.
With the passing of Skelly and Apple, the other two original singers in the group, Wiss is now the last man singing. Wiss is holding it strong, successfully fronting ISRAEL VIBRATION with his own many classic hits as well as covering some of Skelly and Apple's favorite songs. The vocals are ever strong with Bunny Brissett and Steve Golding singing background vocals.
Israel Vibration works with The Roots Radics band who are some of the best reggae recording musicians in the business. These are some of the same musicians who recorded with Dr. Dread of Ras Records and Jim Fox of Lion and Fox recording Studios.
Their live music is rock solid like their albums. ISRAEL VIBRATION has an impressive catalog of music with many classic hits such as Ball Of Fire, Get Up & Go, Cool & Calm, Why Worry, Vultures, Licks & Kicks, The Same Song. Their music spread out worldwide before the album paradigm shift. Ras Records and Jim Fox of Lion and Fox recording Studios in Washington DC were instrumental in building their catalog as one of the greatest legacies in the history of reggae music. All over the world you will hear their songs floating through the air in the streets, out of people’s houses and cars and in the dance halls. Their music lives forever.
Mention the name ISRAEL VIBRATION in reggae music circles and watch the warmth of recognition and appreciation of those who recognize this very special vocal group. The positive vibrations emanating from the music of ISRAEL VIBRATION have been spellbinding audiences, critics and DJs for over three decades. The lead vocalists cast a harmonious musical spell, weaving traditional roots reggae with a mesmerizing sound and deeply spiritual message. ISRAEL VIBRATION have been touring very strong worldwide for many years. They are regularly featured internationally on most of the major Reggae Festivals.
Be sure to come out and witness - THE ROOTS OF THE ROOTS - on this Live & Give US Tour, April 2023. Float with the Note.
