Photo Moments with the 21st Annual BFG Magazine!
Here's 21-year-old singer, songwriter Dylan Triplett, a true soul, blues, rhythm and blues prodigy out of the St. Louis area when in Memphis for the Blues Music Awards. Dylan has been performing professionally since 2016... yep, since he was 14 years old. He's got a natural, soulful, voice and a captivating performance style and is already a seasoned touring artist.

I first heard him at the unofficial LRBC sendoff party in Oct 2022. He was so powerful yet so unassuming, I wondered who this young man was that just got up to sit in with the host band. Little did I know we would get to experience him in a memorable set during the Greaseland showcase on the cruise.

Dylan received the 2023 Blues Music Award for "Best Emerging Artist." He'll appear with his own band on the Oct 2023 LRBC.

(DAVENPORT, IA) - In September of 2022, the Luka family escaped war-torn Kyiv, Ukraine with their twin daughters, Vera and Nadiia, to start a new life in Muscatine, Iowa thanks to efforts by the Muscatine Action Committee for Ukraine. Muscatine, residents Steve and Deb Hueser, who are members of Mississippi Valley Blues Society (MVBS) and who served as a host family for another Ukrainian refugee family, learned that Vera and Nadiia wanted to learn guitar. So, thanks to their efforts and MVBS, one of two guitars were given by MVBS to Nadiia, and MVBS board member Howard Bunch’s daughter is donating personal online lessons.  ___________________________________

Waterfront Blues Fest committed to supporting community
(PORTLAND, OR) – Portland singer-songwriter Jeremy Wilson, a lifelong working musician, was inspired to launch the Jeremy Wilson Foundation (JWF) in June 2010 after being diagnosed with a serious congenital heart condition. Jeremy was struck by the incredible outpouring of goodwill and support he received from the friends, fans and family that helped him through four heart surgeries. Jeremy formed the JWF in hopes of replicating this model: uniting fellow musicians and music lovers to help provide critical support to individual musicians and their families when medical crises occur.

For more than a decade, JWF has been dedicated to improving the overall well-being of local Oregon and Clark County, Washington musicians and music industry workers and their families during times of medical, health-related crisis. The foundation serves as a “safety net” for local musicians who may not have health benefits or savings to support themselves. The 501(c)3 JWF Musician Health & Services Program provides financial aid grants and guidance by trained Navigators to identify other sources of assistance.

JWF is a partner with the Waterfront Blues Festival and you can donate here to this great cause. There are also sponsorship opportunities that connect a sponsor with more than 50,000 music fans at the Waterfront Blues Festival, which will be held July 1-4, 2023.

Any level of sponsorship or donation helps support that local musician community when in a health-related crisis.

Shaun Murphy :: I’M COMING HOME
Her Blues music career started in 1969, but she got waylaid into doing the musical Hair on Broadway, where Motown put together Shaun (AKA Stoney) and Meat Loaf to record her first record; Stoney and Meatloaf, charting worldwide! Following Hair, Meat Loaf went on to do The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Shaun went on to do; Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band On The Road for the better part of the year.

That all led to Shaun joining Bob Seger (from the mid-70s to his retirement in 2019), Eric Clapton, (two world tours, the Behind The Sun release and the incomparable Live Aid show. After 15+ years as lead vocalist with the much-loved band, Little Feat, she ‘came back home’ to the Blues.

With her 2009 start back as a solo artist, she’s released a staggering number of CDs — I’m Coming Home will be her 11th release.

Shaun wrote the title track with Kevin McKendree. She also wrote "Keep Your Head Above Water" with her two bandmates, Tommy Stillwell and Kenne Cramer.  The rest of the songs were penned by close friends in her musical circle.

Shaun is so looking forward seeing all of you out there on that proud highway soon!!
