Photo Moments with the 21st Annual BFG Magazine!
Photographer and blues fan David Rocco captured this shot of these multi-award winning artists ... slide-master, singer, songwriter Roy Rogers and guitarist, singer, songwriter Mighty Mike Schermer on the 4th of July at Tuesdays "Bluesdays" held at The Village at Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley, California. I bet that was some show!

Grammy Nominated Rogers is considered one of the world’s preeminent master Delta slide guitarists. He'll be touring Norway in August starting of at Notodden Blues Fest and in September he'll be touring in support of longtime friend and cohort Bonnie Raitt.

Considered one of the best songwriters of today, Schermer has been touring and recording for well over 30 years with such legendary figures as Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, Marcia Ball, Bonnie Raitt, Maria Muldaur, Howard Tate, Angela Strehli and many more while carving put a solid solo career as well.

News Flash...
What a difference a year keeps making!
(WORLDWIDE) - It's very exciting to see so many Blues music festivals happening around the globe again. Slowly but surely, many have been able to get back on track, and some have even created new events.

Each week, when I look at our online list of festivals, there's more and more added. I do include a fairly full sample festival list at the bottom of your weekly E-Guide, but the complete list with all weblinks, can be found on our website. Be sure to check our Blues Festival Guide website calendar section often for updates.

Treat not only yourself by attending events, but by your attendance (and enthusiasm), you'll also be gifting the performing artists, event producers and promoters, venues, and the rest of those behind the scenes that make it all possible. We do hope you are able to enjoy the musical experiences as much as we are enjoying sharing them! Go ahead and heal your soul with the Blues!

Lady Adrena :: RECIPE FOR THE BLUES
Lady Adrena, long a noted Southern Soul singer, has entered the blues scene with this remarkable breakout album, Recipe for the Blues. Lady Adrena’s new direction, inspired by her ongoing love for her gospel roots, has already been very successful.

She won second place in the Vicksburg International Blues Challenge her first time out. Then she got noticed by some heavy hitters in blues who wanted to see her succeed. Her first blues tune, “Good Girl Gone Bad,” was produced by Mr. Sipp. Then she went on to produce two more blues songs during the pandemic titled "Corona Blues" and "Don't Mess With My Man," with the help of Dexter Allen.

Her new project, Recipe for the Blues, was recorded on the boutique label Sweet Success Records, and she has already made high production videos for several of the songs on the album.

When you hear the album, you’ll understand the excitement. Listening to Lady Adrena’s voice is like hearing the young, undamaged versions of every classic blues singer you’ve ever loved. Sweet, smoky, gritty at times, effortlessly flexible and with a magnificent range, Lady Adrena sings the blues the way it was meant to be sung. And she can back that fabulous vocal skill with a sassy but glamorous live set with a fantastic band.

Just in case: "World Listening Day" is July 18 and is hosted every year by the World Listening Project, a nonprofit organization that is “devoted to understanding the world and its natural environment, societies, and cultures through the practice of listening and field recording.”

While they explore acoustic ecology, there is no denying that blues rhythms as well as their vocal expressiveness are definitely part of natural, cultural and environmental “roots.” The whisper, the moan, the cry, the joy, the humor, the pain, the memories — all of the emotions our minds and bodies react to listening to music. No, you can't deny.

Allow the sounds to open the door to your soul.

Are you listening?
