Photo Moments with the 21st Annual BFG Magazine!
Here's the legendary bassist, singer, songwriter Bob Stroger, following Bob Corritore's recent birthday bash at the Rhythm Room in Phoenix, Arizona.

Multi-award-winning Stroger, recently won the 2023 Living Blues award for "Best Bass Player," honored at the  2023 "Jus' Blues Awards" and He has toured and recorded with dozens of artists over the years including Otis Rush, Jimmy Rogers, Honeyboy Edwards, Eddie Taylor, Eddie Clearwater, Sunnyland Slim, Louisiana Red, Homesick James and Snooky Pryor, among many others.

Maybe it's cliche to say he shows no signs of slowing down, but the 92-year-old Delmark recording artist is still touring and doing what he loves. Stroger released his album, That's My Name, in Feb 2022 with The Headcutters, a crack blues quartet hailing from Brazil.

As he famously says, “I’m Bob Stroger and I am the Blues!”

Chad Rupp & The Sugar Roots :: THE DEVIL WON'T GET YOU
Hot on the heels of last year’s breakout debut album Savage’s Life comes The Devil Won’t Get You, a new collection of 11 brilliantly original songs from Chad Rupp and The Sugar Roots.
The Portland, Oregon super group features some of the brightest lights of the formidable Oregon blues scene on this album, including BMA winner Jimi Bott on drums and Peter Dammann (Paul Delay) on guitar.

Joining on harmonica and vocals on “Blues Men In Black,” a cautionary 420 tale, is Johnny Wheels, whose recent debut album charted on Living Blues and earned accolades from around the world. Another notable guest is Portland stalwart Lloyd Jones, a veteran of the B.B. King Tour and Delbert McClinton’s Sandy Beaches cruises.

The album pays homage to the deep tradition of Portland blues with the song “At The Candlelight Room,” a tribute to an historic fallen Portland venue and the people that made it legendary. Chad Rupp also tips his hat to the international blues community with title track, “The Devil Won’t Get You,” inspired by his 2023 International Blues Challenge adventure, in which he honors those he met along the way.

Chad Rupp and The Sugar Roots demonstrate that they have not only genius, but staying power with The Devil Won’t Get You, guaranteeing that they will be a powerful presence for years to come.

Just in case: Oct 14 is "Universal Music Day," and is celebrated each year on the second Saturday in October.

It's also "International Chef's Day" October 20 of every year. This day is created to celebrate chefs and spreads awareness about eating healthy. Of course eating healthy is great... but all I started to think about was Blues-type songs with double entendre titles or lyrics about food — I suppose some are terms of endearment that are "healthy options" in a different vein... for instance:
"Sugar coated love," "I need a little sugar in my bowl," "it ain't the meat it's the motion," "gimme a pigfoot and bottle of beer," "candyman blues," "diggin' my potatoes," "got my red beans cookin'," "coffee grindin' blues,""cookin' with grease," "porcupine meat,"... or lamenting about "icicles in my meatloaf" and so on, and on. Yet, I don't see anything about "tossin' my salad!" Ha!

Oh! And Oct 16 is "Global Cat Day"... I just don't have time now (you know how I love doing this, too) but I do know if you want to have fun with it, you can think of a lot of Blues songs that mention "cats" in some way shape or form.
