Renowned graphic artist and visual designer, Kenneth Neville Anthony Garrick, has died. His daughter, Naomi Garrick, CEO of Garrick Communications Ltd, confirmed his passing.
Garrick passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the night of Tuesday, November 14, in California, after a very brief, but brave fight with cancer.
Garrick's 50-year art career left an indelible mark on the realm of music album covers, posters, logos, and staging designs. His artistic genius was most vividly seen in the more than 100 album covers he crafted for legendary reggae artistes such as Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, The Wailers, Steel Pulse, and the I-Three, among others.

Grammy-Nominated Reggae Star Protoje Ventures Into Children’s Literature With Debut Book
|
KINGSTON, Jamaica: In a surprising move, Grammy-nominated reggae artist Protoje is expanding his creative horizons with the release of his first children’s book, “Here Comes The Morning,” inspired by his little daughter. Co-authored with The Bookboys, 12-year-old Azibo and 9-year-old Gyasi Bookman, the book is set to hit shelves on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
To celebrate the launch, Protoje and The Bookboys will host a book signing event at Busboy and Poets – Anacostia (2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE) in Washington D.C. The special collector’s edition will be unveiled during the event, which is scheduled from 4-6 pm ET and is open to all ages.
“Here Comes The Morning” aims to captivate young minds, answering the intriguing question inspired by Protoje’s daughter, Yara: Where does the sun go after dark? Instead of merely answering, Protoje takes readers on a journey to the easternmost point of their Caribbean island to visit a lighthouse. The story, designed for 3 to 7-year-olds, encourages curiosity, exploration, and the importance of loving parental guidance.
The book is an extension of Protoje’s 2022 Grammy-nominated album, “Third Time’s The Charm,” featuring the track “Here Comes The Morning.” Illustrated by Jonathan Nelson, the book is available for purchase on PROTOJE.COM and BOOKMANEXPRESS.PUB, published by Sapling Books.
In addition to his literary venture, Protoje dropped a remix album titled “In Search Of Zion” on November 10. The album, produced by Zion I Kings, offers a fresh take on his 2020 critically acclaimed album, “In Search of Lost Time,” with accompanying dub versions of each track.
Protoje’s foray into children’s literature marks a new chapter in his artistic journey, expanding his influence from the music world to captivate the hearts and minds of young readers.

In Jah´s Name We Pray - Please contribute $15 to help incarcerated Rastaman Wasi file his 2255 Motion to Vacate so he can be released.
|
|
|
If you ever had compassion for people being unjustly incarcerated, here is your opportunity to support a deserving individual. He is a dear friend of Reggae Festival Guide an we are intimately familiar with this case.
|
hi, my name is Kaati and I am the publisher of Reggae Festival Guide and Blues Festival Guide.
Wasi is a friend of ours and he is in prison for a crime he did not commit (guilty by association). He has a good case and evidence to get released but the fee of $1500 is required for his legal team to file a 2255 Motion for Vacate - it is a powerful tool to right injustices that were not or could not have been raised on direct appeal. This is because it gives courts broad discretion in fashioning appropriate relief, including dismissal of all charges and release of the prisoner, retrial, or resentencing.
Wasi is a lovely and humble person that is on a spiritual path. He is a practicing Rastafarian.
His trades are solar energy and landscaping.
He has a lovely family but they don't have the financial means to come up with this lump sum.
Dear Community, you know me and I am appealing to you to please pitch in $15. Our idea is to get 100 people each pay $15 before November 1.
If you ever had compassion for people being unjustly incarcerated, here is your opportunity to support a deserving individual.
The funds are controlled by RBA Publishing, Inc (my company) and we will pay the legal team directly. I am also very familiar with his case so if you want more information, please contact me: rbapublishing@gmail.com
One Love,
Kaati
