New Akae Beka album - LIVING TESTAMENT Releases February 16, 2024
|
 Vaughn Benjamin, the voice of Midnite and Akae Beka, was one of the best and most prolific reggae vocalists of the modern era. He was a scholar, poet, teacher, and solver of mysteries. A voracious reader, he was incredibly creative - constantly writing poems and songs. Those close to him advise that he had a photographic memory, which helps explain the broad field of topics he discussed with precise detail in his work. He released over 75 albums in a 25-year period.
“LIVING TESTAMENT” is the final album Vaughn Benjamin recorded before his transition in early November of 2019. In late October of 2019, Vaughn had travelled to Grass Valley, California, where he recorded this 11- track masterpiece at the Trinity Farm Studio over a 2 day period. With Manuel “Go A Chant” Guerra at the controls, and with a selection of powerful riddims composed by Denfield “Ras Pulse” Potter, Manel “Go A Chant” Guerra, Walker Pillow, Scott Lynwood Davis, Befekadu Assefa and Tuff Lion, Vaughn was able to create another timeless album that is not only a masterpiece of roots music but also a living testament to Vaughn’s incredible work…
LIVING TESTAMENT includes the single ‘Who Will Go For Us’ which was released on January 6th 2024 with a video filmed on location in Ethiopia.
LIVING TESTAMENT is a monumental album and an important piece of history. It will be available on LP, CD, and high-quality download on February 16th courtesy of Go A Chant, Trinity Farm, Before Zero Records, and I-Roots Records. The majestic cover artwork was created by Ras Elijah Tafari.

The City of Miramar is proud to announce its 4th Annual Afro-Carib Festival (ACF), presented by Visit Lauderdale and Memorial Healthcare System, and hosted by Vice Mayor Alexandra P. Davis. The ACF is happening on Saturday, February 17, 2024, 6pm-11pm ET, at the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater, located at 16801 Miramar Parkway, Miramar, FL 33027.
The 2024 lineup includes afro-beats megastar Fireboy DMl, Grammy award winner reggae artist Kabaka Pyramid, and old school dancehall hitmaker Nadine Sutherland, and as well as local artists to be announced soon.
Each year, the Afro-Carib Festival celebrates the blended cultures and shared bonds rooted in African origins and the Caribbean islands.
