The festival will be held May 9-12 at Spanish Landing Park on the San Diego Bay.

Gator By The Bay enhanced its blues music lineup in 2024 with the announcement of Tommy Castro and The Painkillers, who will close the festival on Sunday, May 12. Tommy will be making his first appearance at the festival, as well as other blues and roots artists making their debuts including Southern Avenue, Nikki Hill, Nick Moss & Dennis Gruenling, Rosie Flores, James Intveld, Jimmy Carpenter Band, and many others.

The Friday night show billed as Bayou Boogie, is being presented in celebration of the 100th birthday anniversary of Clifton Chenier, known as the “King of Zydeco.” The show will feature a never-before-seen musical combo headlined by his son C.J. Chenier, slide guitar master Sonny Landreth, and blues pianist Marcia Ball. On Saturday, each of these artists will return to the stage with solo performances.

With its beginnings in 2001, the Gator By The Bay Festival is held on Mother’s Day weekend at Spanish Landing Park on San Diego Bay across from the San Diego International Airport. It features 100+ performances on 7 stages, Mardi Gras parades, 10,000 lbs. of fresh crawfish, delicious Southern cuisine, expansive dance floors and lessons, and incredible music featuring multiple genres, including: zydeco, Cajun, blues, rockabilly, salsa, swing, rock ‘n roll and New Orleans jazz.  Orianthi :: FIRST TIME BLUES (single)
Blues rock guitar virtuoso Orianthi, a veteran of projects with the world’s top music artists, has released a blues single entitled “First Time Blues,” featuring work from longtime friend Joe Bonamassa.

The Australian-born, Los Angeles-based Orianthi wanted to create something special to celebrate her 25th anniversary as a professional musician. She entered The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger’s Love Street Sound studio, where she wrote, produced, and recorded her debut single for Woodward Avenue Records.

To add a second guitar solo to “First Time Blues,” Orianthi invited three-time Grammy-nominated blues rock guitar prodigy Joe Bonamassa. They had played together many times, but “First Time Blues” is their first recording together

Just in case: April 7 is "National Beer Day"
...the oldest and most venerable of all beverages, people have been making beer for over 5,000 years; in fact, the oldest recorded recipe we know of is for beer. Beer has inspired a lot of blues songs... like "Beer Bottle Boogie," "Beer Drinking Woman," "Gimme A Pigfoot," "Hey Bartender," "Beer Drinking Daddy," "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers"...
