CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION 1 JUNE
|
We are delighted to tell you about an exciting drama outing where we can get together and enjoy our shared passion for the theatre! This will take place on Saturday June 1st. The details, from the Gate Theatre Dublin, are as follow:
We are offering drama groups the rare opportunity to attend a matinee performance of the play Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker followed by an exclusive tour of The Gate building, including the backstage and rehearsal areas, and a workshop facilitated by members of the Gate team.
In Circle Mirror Transformation, five people gather to take part in a drama class in a small-town community centre. Over the course of six weeks, Marty, James, Schultz, Theresa and Lauren participate in a series of games that entangle and unite them in hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking ways. The cast includes Niamh Cusack, Risteárd Cooper, Marty Rea, Imogen Doel and Hazel Doupe.
Circle Mirror Transformation is a meditation on theatre and life and death and the passing of time. Tender, disarming and unexpected, Baker’s immaculate play has been called ‘absorbing, unblinking and sharply funny’ by The New York Times.
The 90 min workshop will explore our group’s reaction to the play and the drama exercises used by the characters, and how they might be utilised in a real-world workshop setting.
The event will cost €41.00, including premium seats at the matinee performance of the play on Saturday June 1st at 2 pm. Places are limited and numbers must be confirmed shortly with The Gate, so book your place by TUESDAY 7 May by contacting Valerie at office@dli.ie
Looking forward to hearing from you, and to a great day out.
