With devastating 110 mph winds and life-threatening storm surges, Hurricane Beryl battered Jamaica on Wednesday leaving at least two people dead, buildings badly damaged, and thousands of homes without power. The eye wall of the system hit southern parishes causing major damage in sections of Clarendon, Manchester, and St Elizabeth.
Category four Hurricane Beryl, one of the most powerful to ever hit Jamaica, brought more than 12 hours of heavy rain before leaving the island and moving towards the Cayman Islands and southern Mexico at Category 3.
Late Wednesday the Met Service lifted the hurricane warning that was in place for the entire island and replaced it with a flash flood watch. According to the Met Service, as Beryl continues to move further away from Jamaica, its outer bands are expected to remain into this afternoon. Cloudy conditions are expected today, with isolated showers likely across southern parishes mainly during the morning.
The Met Service further advised that rising water will continue to affect coastal areas of south western parishes. Source

Sgt. Remo and Fidel Nadal "Reach for the Top" With New Single
Sgt. Remo and Fidel Nadal Reach for the Top With New Single - San Antonio, TX – Sgt. Remo collaborates with the Latin Grammy nominated Argentinian reggae star Fidel Nadal to create the bonafide summer banger Reach the Top. The single premieres on Friday, July 5, 2024. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Kutral Dub (Chile), the single is an upbeat, Spanish/English collab between the two lyricists. Remo and Fidel take turns dropping some fire verses as if trying to make sure neither outdoes the other. And let me tell you, we the listeners are the winners!
Fidel Nadal is a Latin Grammy nominated Afro-Argentine singer, songwriter, and pioneer of Latin American reggae and hardcore punk. Since 1988, Fidel has produced over 30 albums. The Rolling Stone described him as “the Rasta who revolutionized Latin Rock” (2009). Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Fidel began his career in 1985 as lead singer of the influential rasta-punk band Todos Tus Muertos. The band achieved international success and produced 8 albums. In 1995, Fidel formed the reggae band Lumumba with his brother Amilcar and friend Pablo Molina releasing 4 albums together. In 2001, Fidel launched a successful solo career with a focus on reggae. He received two Latin Grammynominations in 2011 for his album Forever Together, and the song Te Robaste Mi Corazon.
The single Reach the Top is part of the upcoming Sgt. Remo album (2024). The full-length album will also feature collaborations with Chezidek, Kutral Dub and others.
Mexican-born, San Antonio, Texas based Sgt. Remo has been a steady force in American reggae since his debut EP Life is for Living in 2012. Remo is coming off a spectacular 2023 releasing 12 singles and the outstanding CDMX Sessions EP. Sgt. Remo and his band, The Vibratones, worked a demanding schedule of shows in 2023 including performances at Austin Reggae Festival, Houston Reggae Festival, and presentations all over Texas. Remo also performed a 9-date Mexico tour and performed in Colombia for their 2024 Mes del Reggae.
