 Donna Sewall Davidge and I have been running a sweet, fun YINspirations Retreat in Puerto Plata, DR, the past two winters, including in 2024 with the divine Ora Ramat as well!

When the body says “no” (that’s actually a book by Dr. Gabor Maté, on the effects of stress) how do you hear your body's "yes" beneath its No to what you'd prefer?
What I'd prefer: freedom, ease, fun, choice, movement. What my body's "no" was a "yes" to: self-connection, self-care, support, trust, acceptance, faith, space, movement, growth.
I am compassionately holding both those "yes" sets of needs expressed by my body and myself.
In my case, I said "no" to paying out of pocket for medical treatment three years ago after a sports injury. And gradually, my body said a louder and louder "no" to me, and a firm "yes" to all those things she wants, that I list above.
 This year, I said "yes" to insured medical support, and I am smiling, a week after a successful total hip replacement to my right hip.
I had to change some beliefs, I had to lean on the support of hospital staff, medical personnel, friends, family. I had to trust my body, and the power that made the body. That is all movement for me, and growth, on a different level than I'm used to.
Sometimes you ask for growth. Be careful what you ask for. And this, too, shall pass! Joy in the present moment! I claim all that I have asked for; I own all that my body hands to me! I find the "yes" beneath. I'm a "yes" to that.

Set Your Thermostat to Joy
|
 There’s really no other way I’d prefer to live. I want to be dancing, inside and out. I am getting better and better at noticing when I am, or not, and noticing I have access to the thermostat, and it is a thermostat, not just a thermometer.

 I am taking most of the month of December off on medical leave. I’ll be writing, creating, resting, dreaming. Mm-mm jealous? Maybe you have a reset week or month in your own future?
My return to classes will show on my website. You can see there what my usual weekly classes will be, once I am back.

 As I am obeying doctor's orders and staying home from teaching in studios or gyms this month of December ... maybe we head to bed together Sunday nights with a nightcap of Sunday meditation soundbaths.

 With the month of December on medical leave, I'm excited to join the National Asian Artists Project (NAAP) Broadway Community Chorus in two Friday performances of a Christmas concert open to the public at the Hotel Edison in Time Square, 12/13 and 12/20, at 6:15PM.
 My friends/family escort me to/from rehearsals, and I have freedom to sit for performances in the front row with the audience, since we invite audience participation!
