Finding Your Hero's Journey
|
Finding your bliss becomes harder when you notice very much around you that you do not like.
"Harder" means you become more creative if you are determined to own your life and make your destiny.
Like the character of Guido in Life Is Beautiful, you create the bliss. Insofar as you can create joy, it is real, it exists. It exists in the lit-up face of Guido's small son Giosuè, which we can all envision so clearly before us, even now.
It exists in the places where you light it in ways big and small, individual and organized. It keeps your hope up, because where is our creativity or productivity or power without hope? Without our faith in human creativity, and growth?
Me, I find my joy in creating in the face of challenge through my students, colleagues, friends, family. I find it in my chosen non-profits and volunteer work. All of these meet my needs for purpose and connection, shared reality, friendship, love. These moments of beauty and care: they are real.
Every class I teach is a godsend for me, as I feel the soothing balm it is for those who come together. Do you feel that, with something you do? What if your hero's journey is finding and creating the bliss no matter what and no matter where? Is that not service, and meaning? Is that not being ready for the cycles of change that are due to come, because life will live? We are in a growth period.
Maybe for you, bliss is found in long walks, or gardens, in dance, music, laughter.
In warm times catching up with dear ones or helping someone with a task. A connecting moment with a stranger.
Letting someone listen to you, or you listening to them. Being near trees, or near water.
Where can you make communion in your soul, laughter in your heart, spark joy in your "child" eyes?
Yes, this too, is important "action." It clears us for more heart-centered clear actions. Find bliss. Create joy. Let that be your challenge on your hero's journey. We can be here now.

Me, John Lennon, Gandhi, Rumi. Yes, Dylan aka Zimmerman. Yes MLK. Oh, and you. I know you. We. want. Peace.
We have politics in the world, moving money and resources and rules around. We have businesses, moving the funding and the power, disproportionately, around.
But, we have something else. We have hearts, minds, souls.
We have the technology of hearts and souls and of understanding.
Yoga is thousands of years old and brings peace inwardly first, then outwardly amongst us, as we who do it know, and practice.

Empathy, the breath of life, as taught by the late Marshall Rosenberg and his peer and protegé, Thom Bond, offers us skills for disentangling conflicts, within us and amongst us.

Join in a First Monday Intro with NYC NVC. Or join the online Compassion Course that begins June 18th, and runs 52 weeks, with lots of support options, including practice groups.
Register here, or send me any questions you have.
