From the Council Moderator
Stewardship Update from the Council

Dear Alki UCC:

While our Stewardship Chair Shannon P is recovering from knee surgery, the Church Council requests that you take note of the following Stewardship milestones ... and plan to join us for 10:00 am Sunday worship:

This Sunday, May 25:
Faith Formation Ministry Moment

June 1
Caring Community and Fellowship Ministry Moment

June 8
Pentecost and New Members will be celebrated during worship.
After worship, stay for a brief presentation on Alki UCC's proposed 2025-2026 Budget. It's important to have a quorum for the discussion/vote, so we ask as many of you to be present as possible.
Packets and pledge materials will be available at worship and remaining packets will be mailed.

June 15
Worship and Music/Worship Logistics Ministry Moment

June 22
Stewardship Sunday
A celebration of bringing our pledges for the coming year!

June 29
Congregational Meeting
To be woven into 10:00 am worship, the meeting is highlighted by a vote on the budget and council executive team, and announcement of our new tenant, A Child Becomes.

Looking forward to seeing our congregation grow and thrive in the coming years.

Thank you, — Julia P

Calling All Cooks!
Food/Hosts Needed for WIN Hot Lunch Saturday, June 7
Alki UCC is joining forces with Admiral UCC and Westside UU's to provide the Westside Interfaith Network's (WIN) hot lunch on Saturday, June 7.

We need casseroles, salads, roasted vegetables and desserts to feed about 150 people. And for people to help hand out donations and supplies to the guests.

Join us in acts of resilience and justice by making and delivering food and love to our marginalized neighbors! All the more fun by combining efforts with other faith community friends.

Moment of Stewardship
by Outreach/Social Justice
May 18, 2025
This past Sunday we heard from my beloved Ministry Team, Outreach/ Social Justice, as part of our “Let’s Do This…Together!” Stewardship moment.

Team members shared why they are involved with social justice and how much they enjoy serving on this team. We heard about the history of social justice work at Alki UCC, current projects, the need to  act on our faith, science and faith, and a love for lists (here’s looking at you Joe!).

We heard a recurring word: community. Our own faith community serving others and working on critical issues in the wider community. Alki UCC is a place for us to do this, and we need Alki UCC to thrive, now into the future. We need each other doing the work together and the wider community needs us as well.

So many of us spoke about why we donate to Alki UCC, and the importance of pledging. Please join us in making your pledge for the coming fiscal year.

Here's a reminder of who is in charge at Alki UCC. All of us are... as we live into the Purpose Statement we created together years ago: “Alki UCC is a faith community growing together as disciples of Jesus Christ, courageously sharing God’s love with each other and the world.”

You are encouraged to join a Ministry Team (or several!), serve on one of the Standing Committees, or let the Church Leadership know how you can help. And of course give generously through the Stewardship Drive!

In Our Circle of Prayer
Ever-present God, we give you thanks.
We give you gratitude for the relationships in our lives and our community of faith.

We pray for all those who grieve.
Comfort the hearts of all who grieve and hold them close. We pray for Julie and Bryson who mourn the death of their spouse and dad, Rich.

We pray for all those who are ill, hurting or have a concern on their hearts.
We pray for Vicky S' friend Sue; Julia C's cousin Scott M, facing a critical health challenge; our Peruvian immigrant friends and for all who seek peace and safety in our country; for Sandy J's cousin Barbara; Dan K facing various health issues; Rev. Joan C; Cinda's mother Jackie S; Julia C's friend Jessie T and family, Amy Y's mother Corlene; Sue's B's friends Mary and Louise; and Nick L.

We pray for our wider world.
We pray for all the people and places in our world affected by war. We ask for wisdom for decision-makers and strength for justice-seekers. We pray for victims of violence, for refugees and asylum-seekers. We pray for all who are hungry, desperate, and in need of support.

In all of these things, we trust that you are with us. In all of these things, we ask for you to strengthen us. Help us to see you in those around us. Help us to love as you love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
