WICKIE WACKIE MUSIC FESTIVAL PRESENTS UNDA DI ALMOND TREE SERIES

KINGSTON, JAMAICA — The Wickie Wackie Music & Camping Festival 2026 proudly re‑announces "Unda Di Almond Tree" — an intimate limited series planting a direct pathway from Kingston’s grassroots scene to WWMF26’s (Wickie Wackie Music Festival) new third day dedicated to emerging artists.

The series kicked off on October 1, 2025 with a standout performance by the Affirmation Band alongside SPECHiNAL, Sashone, Jah Vezl and Shanice Sewell — It was a night of roots rocking energy that confirmed the concept that Kingston has a next generation ready to step up.

Next in the series was October 15, which featured the Affirmation Band with Karbon D Hardone, Inezi, Birdz‑I, Leego and Spacekat. It will then be followed on October 29 and two November dates, the 12th and 26th.

All shows run 6:00–10:00 PM at The Musical Jungle Rehearsal Studios,  9 Springvale Avenue, Kingston.

"Unda Di Almond Tree" is more than a showcase; it’s a cultural movement that connects local talent to international stages. Each event presents curated emerging acts in a close, personal setting designed to foster real connection between artists, industry professionals and music fans. The five standout performers from the series will earn coveted spots on the festival’s new third day in February 2026, creating a tangible pipeline from Kingston to Bull Bay and expanding opportunities for the next generation of reggae and Caribbean artists. "We're not just expanding our festival; we're expanding opportunities," said Kumar Bent, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and festival founder.

Partners collaborating with WWMF —Jacana Life, Touch The Road, SR Entertainment, Ruhr Breeze Sound, Reggae Ambassador Music, Herbs & Music, The Musical Jungle and Reggae Again -—  are supporting intimate on-site activations, community outreach and artist development

Artists who want to submit for future showcases, partners interested in collaborating, and fans who want to attend can get involved by contacting linkup@wickiewackiemusicfest.com.

Joe Bogdanovich receives AFJ International Achievement Award in New York
It was a night of Jamaican pride and international prestige as Josef ‘Joe’ Bogdanovich, chief executive officer of DownSound Entertainment, producers of Reggae Sumfest, received the International Achievement Award at the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) Hummingbird Gala at the iconic Plaza Hotel in Manhattan last Friday.
The annual AFJ event celebrated visionaries who continue to shape Jamaica’s global image through excellence, leadership, and service.

As Bogdanovich took the stage to accept his award, presented by Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, he paused for a moment, visibly moved by the applause echoing through the grand ballroom.

“This award means so much because it represents Jamaica — its people, its power, its passion,” he said. “Moving to Jamaica changed my life. Reggae isn’t just music; it’s a heartbeat that unites the world, and I’m honoured to play a role in sharing that rhythm.”

Bogdanovich’s journey from businessman to a key cultural player has been defined by bold moves and a deep commitment to Jamaica. Under his leadership, and along with his team, Reggae Sumfest has continued to evolve, while his philanthropic work continues to touch communities across the island.

The gala was more than an awards ceremony; it was a celebration of Jamaican excellence. Guests were treated to captivating live performances by Agent Sasco, The Alpha School of Music Ensemble, and DJ Max Glazer, with a surprise appearance by Minister Marion Hall.

The evening’s other honouree, Jason Henzell, chairman of Jake’s Hotel and founder of the BREDS Foundation, received the International Humanitarian Award for his groundbreaking work in community development in Treasure Beach, St Elizabeth.

Throughout the night, stories of resilience, philanthropy, and national pride echoed through the halls of The Plaza, a fitting setting for a celebration of Jamaica’s brightest contributors abroad.

For Bogdanovich, the recognition serves not as a capstone, but a call to keep building. “This isn’t just about what we’ve achieved,” he said in closing. “It’s about what’s next, for music, for our people, and for Jamaica. The best is yet to come.”

Frontman Phil Simpkin's lyrical compositions range from simply truthful to stirringly anthemic. Their rich guitar work, influenced by blues and rock 'n' roll, blends seamlessly with thumping drums, bass, percussion, and rhythmic guitar—a homage to Jamaica's celebrated music. Lush keyboard arrangements create a vibrant backdrop, enhancing the brilliance of three-part vocal harmonies. Their unwavering dedication to reggae is evident in dynamic live performances, songwriting, and studio recordings.

Skunkdub—is a soulful California Reggae artist with a distinctly classic rockers dub sound. Accompanied by his band, The High Influence, Skunkdub is most known for his melodic, psychedelic, high-energy live performances.

Ras Attitude returns with “Light Up,” a powerful roots anthem celebrating the sacred herb, featuring the eternal voice of Akae Beka (Vaughn Benjamin) and produced by the late Jordan “Iaahden” Jones.

Released August 2025, the single uplifts cannabis not only as a plant, but as a divine gift for meditation, healing, and higher consciousness. “This is more than a ganja tune,” says Ras Attitude. “It’s about praising the Most High for this holy herb that brings healing to nations and guidance to the soul. Vaughn and Iaahden helped make this message timeless.”
“Light Up” continues the Virgin Islands’ tradition of roots reggae that reveres cannabis as sacramental, medicinal, and revolutionary. It’s both a tribute to Akae Beka and Iaahden,
and a call to keep the flame of enlightenment burning.

Dubmatix shares...Desmond Dekker & The Aces — The Israelites: A Reggae Anthem of Struggle and Salvation
Desmond Dekker & The Aces — The Israelites: A Reggae Anthem of Struggle and Salvation
How a Jamaican street song became one of the first reggae hits to conquer the world.

In 1969, a lean, urgent tune from Kingston burst onto radios in London and New York. “The Israelites” by Desmond Dekker & The Aces wasn’t just another island single — it was the first reggae track to top the UK charts and break into the U.S. Top 10. Its themes of struggle, poverty, and spiritual survival resonated across cultures, making it one of the foundation stones for reggae’s global rise.

Enjoy VIDEO HERE

Desmond Dekker, born Desmond Adolphus Dacres on July 16, 1941, in Saint Andrew Parish, Jamaica, grew up immersed in music, singing in church with his family. Before finding success, he worked as a tailor and welder, where his coworkers recognized his voice and encouraged him to pursue a music career. Though his first auditions at Studio One and Treasure Isle ended in rejection, he persisted and eventually found his breakthrough when producer Leslie Kong signed him to Beverley’s Records.

With the support of his backing group, The Aces: Barry Howard, Wilson James, and Easton Barrington Howard — Dekker began building momentum. He scored local success with “007 (Shanty Town)” before breaking internationally with “Israelites.” More hits followed, including “It Mek” (1969) and “You Can Get It If You Really Want” (1970), each cementing his role as a pioneer of reggae on the world stage. Decades later, his influence endured, with collaborations such as his 1990s recordings alongside The Specials showing that his voice and message still carried weight across generations.

ABOUT HOLO HOLO MUSIC FESTIVAL

Holo Holo Music Festival was born from a love of island and reggae music—a genre deeply rooted in connection, culture, and movement. The festival first set sail in 2022 at Frost Amphitheater at Stanford University, bringing together fans to celebrate the vibrant sounds of the islands. With the spirit of holo holo—meaning "to travel, to sail, to move"—the event quickly expanded, reaching new shores in Las Vegas and Sacramento in 2023. By 2024, its journey continued with a highly anticipated stop in San Diego.

Now, in 2025, we’re excited to take Holo Holo even further, bringing the music and community to Oceanside, Las Vegas, Sacramento, Tacoma, and San Diego! As we continue to move and grow, the festival remains a space for connection—where fans can gather for two days of unforgettable performances, incredible food, and the shared love of island and reggae music.

For Good Vibez Presents co-owner Dan Sheehan, Holo Holo is more than just a festival—it’s a reflection of his roots. “Growing up in Ewa Beach, O‘ahu, island music and reggae were the soundtracks of my childhood. These styles—the heartbeat of the islands—are the backbone of my work as a festival producer and venue owner. A big part of Good Vibez Presents is about discovery, and I’m honored to showcase and celebrate these artists at Holo Holo Festivals.”

For over 25 years, Good Vibez Presents has produced hundreds of immersive, multidimensional concerts and festivals across the West Coast, Hawaii, Arizona, North Carolina, and Mexico. They are the driving force behind the California Roots Music & Arts Festival in Monterey, the largest reggae-rock festival in the country. With a deep commitment to supporting nonprofits, small businesses, and creatives, Good Vibez Presents continues to build events that foster community, uplift artists, and spread positivity.

Holo Holo Music Festival is more than just a gathering—it’s a journey. Enjoy a weekend of incredible music and good vibes! Choose the Holo Holo that is right for you!
