New Hampshire and the Nation: Teachers’ Workshops

Discover how to integrate substantive state history into U.S. history courses in this pair of workshops presented by the New Hampshire Historical Society. Workshop 1 covers early N.H. history, and Workshop 2 covers modern N.H. history. Both workshops provide compact, content-rich overviews of state history that connect with national themes. We will also be introducing a new open-access, online database of primary and secondary sources that the Society will launch for educators in the summer of 2026.
This is a regional professional development opportunity, presented by the New Hampshire Historical Society and hosted by school districts around the state for educators and administrators in grades 8 to 12 in preparation for implementing the State of New Hampshire’s revised 306 requirements. The new 306s specify all students must complete a half credit of state history at the high school level beginning in the fall of 2026.
There is no cost to teachers or administrators to attend these workshops, and each host location welcomes educators from other schools.

Paraeducator Series with Jeanine Fitzgerald

Starting in the fall of 2026, NCES will be offering a monthly series for paraeducators focused on the behavior titled, Why Do They Do That?
Everyone misbehaves and misbehavior is not the problem, nor is the person. Behavior is a symptom of an unsolved problem and a form of communication. This series is designed To answer the two most frequently asked questions, “Why do they do that?” And “What do I do when they do that?”

Grow Your Future, through Root to Rise
|
Root to Rise is a North Country based non-profit connecting and supporting schools, classrooms and farms in various ways. Whether informal farm field trips or long term relationships and curriculum development, these connections are essential in introducing schools to local agriculture and strengthening our communities. In connecting and supporting farmers and teachers, R2R encourages students to understand the potential and benefits of local agriculture from a health, science, economic and community lens. This includes potential agricultural employment as well as economic development opportunities.
For schools, funding is available for field trips to farms, teacher trainings and PD with local agricultural themes and content. There is also funding to help develop/incorporate agriculture into current curriculum standards and classes. For students, funding is available to attend conferences related to local agriculture, or any other creative ideas students wish to pursue relating to local agriculture. For farmers, funding is available to cover time spent with schools, both on the farm and in the classroom.

School-to-Farm Days for Fourth Graders
|
This event brings together 4th grade students from different elementary schools throughout the county for a day of learning about the importance of agriculture. Farmers and other professionals are on hand to present mini-lessons and demonstrations on topics such as beekeeping, sheep raising, wool carding and spinning, dairy cows, oxen, maple sugaring, vegetable production, soil ecology, chickens and more. Students visit the stations, meet the experts, see the animals and experience a taste of farm life.
Cost: $6 per student, chaperones are free.

NH Regional Cyber Defense Training
|
To better serve school districts and municipalities across the state, the ATOM Group will be hosting two regional events: one for Southern and Central NH, and a smaller, more focused session for Northern NH (north of the Lakes Region).
IT Departments and Managed Service Providers are invited to join this training, a technical deep-dive for network defenders, led by The ATOM Group. The session will cover the successful attacks that thwarted network defenders in NH during the winter season and will map those attacks to uncover the lessons learned.
This training will include ideas for cyber defense, recommended changes to defense strategies, and incident response plans updated from NH's most recent cyber attacks.

Community-Based Community of Practice: Conscious Discipline and Social and Emotional Learning

When navigating complex challenges and it's easy to feel like you're doing it alone. But you're not. Imagine a space where we come together to share insights, build skills, and support one another through the lens of Conscious Discipline and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). That’s the heart of our Community-Based Community of Practice (CoP).
Research shows that when we feel connected and supported, our resilience grows. Shared experiences and learning in a trusted group not only reduces stress but also strengthens our confidence and capacity.
This CoP is a place to grow, reflect, and co-create change. Together, we’ll explore practical tools and compassionate strategies that build a culture of safety, belonging, and connection for the adults and children in our communities.
For: Educators, paras, and other staff from community- or family-serving organizations in Coos, upper Grafton, or upper Carroll who have participated in Conscious Discipline's Building Resilient Homes & Schools or other multi-session CD training.
Cost: Free

NHSCA Arts Project Grants
|
The Arts Project Grants category supports initiatives that use the arts to strengthen communities and individual wellbeing, enrich K–12 learning, and promote values that encourage creativity and positive impact for the project participants, ultimately helping to build stronger communities across New Hampshire. The intended program recipients are individuals across New Hampshire, including students, families, older adults, individuals with disabilities, military and veterans, law enforcement, and those experiencing physical or mental health challenges.

CASA Volunteers Urgently Needed

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Hampshire is a statewide nonprofit that recruits, trains, and supports community volunteers to serve as advocates for children throughout the state who have experienced abuse or neglect.
CASA volunteer advocates get to know a child and the important people in that child’s life to provide vital information to help a judge make decisions based on the best interests of the child.
In this story, three volunteers share how they were nervous to begin this work and how they overcame their concerns to change their lives and the lives of children; plus, learn more about CASA and how to get involved from this WMUR story.
