Black Pearl Livingston Sister Of Bob Marley & Bunny Wailer Releases Her Debut Album
|
From Kingston, Jamaica BLACK PEARL LIVINGSTON - SISTER OF BOB MARLEY & BUNNY WAILER - RELEASES HER DEBUT ALBUM - YOUR RICHNESS IS LIFE
It’s been 63 years in the making and decades since the tragic loss of the great Bob Marley as well as a few years for fellow architect of reggae music, Bunny Wailer, but the wait has been well worth it: Bob and Bunny’s sister Pearl Livingston has dropped her first album YOUR RICHNESS IS LIFE — an introspective story of being the little sister of Robert Nesta Marley.
CLICK HERE FOR MUSIC PLATFORM OF YOUR CHOICE
Pearl Livingston is the child of Bob Marley’s mother, Cedella, and Bunny Wailer’s father, Thaddeus. Her brothers’ profound influence on her and all of humanity has defined much of Pearl’s life and with such immaculate reggae royalty flowing through her veins, it was only a matter of time before Pearl committed to record her own lyrics and melodies. And what a collection of songs Pearl has amassed.
Choosing the artiste moniker Black Pearl, Ms. Livingston has recorded eight original songs and a cover from each of her brothers’ voluminous catalogues to deliver an important reckoning worthy of any and all reggae collections.

Reggae Singer Rochelle Bradshaw Releases Debut Album Island Girl

11-Track Reggae/Contemporary/Soul Fusion Arrives on All Major Streaming Platforms
Video to the title track “Island Girl” available on Reggaeville
About Rochelle Bradshaw Rochelle Bradshaw’s story begins in Portland, Jamaica, in a home where music wasn’t just entertainment; it was the pulse of daily life. Her father, Anthony Bradshaw, and her uncle, Devon Bradshaw, both played with the legendary reggae band Burning Spear, and their influence surrounded her from the very beginning. Music was not a career to be chased. It was simply part of the world she was born into.
As a child, Rochelle spent countless hours in her uncle Devon’s modest studio in Norwich, quietly absorbing the rhythms, harmonies, and unspoken lessons passed between musicians. She learned that music is as much about listening as it is about performing, and that the soul of a song lies in its truth. Her earliest roles were not in the spotlight but in harmony, blending her voice to support others and helping their stories find wings.
Over the years, her quiet dedication led her far beyond what she had imagined. She was invited to tour and record with artists she had admired since childhood, including The Original Wailers, Burning Spear, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Luciano, Damian Marley, and Stephen Marley. These moments were never about fame for Rochelle. They were about learning, honoring the craft, and carrying forward the spirit of the music she grew up with.
Now rooted in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Rochelle brings her heritage with her, weaving the soul of Jamaica into every performance. With her band Hypnotion, she creates spaces where audiences feel connected, where songs of unity, self-love, and resilience are offered in both English and Jamaican patois. Her shows are less about performance and more about communion, a shared reminder of the strength found in community.
Her creativity extends beyond music into her work as a cannabis entrepreneur and brand ambassador for The Source Dispensary in Arkansas, where she has developed her own line of products, including Island Time, Hi Tide, and Lo Tide gummies, as well as Island Time vape carts. Just like her music, these ventures reflect her commitment to authentic, mindful living.
Her debut album, ISLAND GIRL, created in collaboration with her sister Tamara Bradshaw (UniVerss) and her uncle Devon Bradshaw, is the culmination of years of growth, listening, and love. It is an offering, an invitation for listeners to slow down, be present, and step into a world where heritage, heart, and humanity meet.

Beverley’s Records: Jamaica’s Ice-Cream Parlour that Launched Reggae
In the early 1960s, the Kong family ran Beverley’s Restaurant, Ice-Cream Parlour & Record Shop at 135A Orange Street, Kingston—a hub in Jamaica’s emerging music scene. One day in 1961, a teenage Jimmy Cliff auditioned his song “Dearest Beverley” outside the shop. Leslie Kong, impressed, recorded it and paired it with “Hurricane Hattie.”
This single became Beverley’s first big hit and launched both Cliff’s career and the label itself.

Anticipated Compilation of Seventies Records Includes Reggae Classics & Great Rare Tracks
“Perry was a prolific reggae singer, producer and studio wizard who reinvented the genre and pushed the boundaries of Jamaican music—he pioneered and expanded the use of the studio as an instrument in itself, which forever changed the sound of music everywhere.” --ROLLING STONE Lee “Scratch” Perry: A genius? A madman? A mystic man? There can be no doubt that he is one of the most consequential figures in the world of music, creator of countless reggae classics, a mentor to Bob Marley, an architect of dub music, and inspiration to musicians around the world ranging from The Clash to the Beastie Boys. Though "Scratch" may have at times seemed crazy, it is worth noting that his often-appointed title as a 'creative genius' appears accurate, as geniuses tend to see things others do not see and inhabit realities unseen. Shanachie Entertainment just released Crucial Cuts From The Heart of the Ark (1973-1978), a special vinyl LP compilation of Perry’s celebrated Black Ark studio recordings, including both reggae classics such as Max Romeo’s “War Ina Babylon” and Junior Murvin’s “Police and Thieves” and wonderful rarities such as “Fisherman Dub” and Carlton & The Shoes “Better Days.” As the music on this album reveals, Lee Perry’s Black Ark creations re-arrange the familiar into something new and magical. Lee Perry a/k/a Scratch, Pipecock Jackson and the Upsetter, was born Hugh Rainford Perry in 1936, growing up poor in a rural parish of Northwest Jamaica. From a young age he was fascinated by music, was a great dancer and attended sound system dances whenever possible. Around 1960 he arrived in the vibrant music scene of Kingston, determined to become a singer. He was taken on by producer Coxsone Dodd as a “handyman,” helping with his Downbeat sound system and studio work. Soon he was pitching songs to Dodd, who was impressed with his clever--sometimes risqué—lyrics, if not Lee’s limited singing voice. In 1963, The Wailers auditioned for Dodd and Lee became involved in helping them shape their music. Soon Lee was able to record and some of his tunes became popular—especially “Chicken Scratch,” which gave rise to his nickname. Over the next few years, he worked for most of all the top producers—Duke Reid, Coxsone Dodd, Joe Gibbs, Clancy Eccles, and Prince Buster—as an A & R person and songwriter, always departing due to lack of remuneration and credit. He often recorded mocking tunes such as “People Funny Boy” directed at his former employers. By 1968 Lee “Scratch” Perry was an independent producer, naming his studio musicians The Upsetters and scoring instrumental hits with innovative rhythms that helped forge the new reggae style. In 1970-1971 he produced what many consider the greatest works by the Wailers; in 1968 one of his Upsetters productions hit #5 on the UK pop chart via Trojan Records and more hits followed. That gave him the funds to build his own studio and in 1973 the legendary Black Ark was born. The equipment at Black Ark was very basic; some musicians marveled that it was not even “professional.” Yet Lee was able to orchestrate an amazing, powerful sound out of it.
Because of his strong musical sense and commitment to Black culture, Rastafari and creativity, musicians both established and new flocked to Black Ark. Among the many landmark classics cut at Black Ark are such incisive political commentaries as Max Romeo’s “War Ina Babylon,” and Junior Murvin’s “Police and Thieves” (covered by the Clash). The Congos’ “Heart of the Congos” album is a roots classic and there are many wonderful obscure singles such as Carlton and the Shoes’ “Better Days” and Zap Pow’s “River.” Many dub creations made innovative use of Scratch’s sonic wizardry via echo, phasing, reverb, flanging, wah-wah, and various sound effects. “Crucial Cuts From The Heart of the Ark” is an immersive sound experience that takes the listener into the magical world of Perry’s classic work at Black Ark. The album cover features an iconic photo of Scratch at work in the studio, taken by celebrated photographer Kate Simon, who notes that Scratch liked it so much he had a mural of the photo painted on the studio wall. It all came to an end in 1978 as Lee, besieged by extortionists, freeloaders, religious fanatics, and assorted pilgrims, let the studio lapse and then he set it on fire, some say due to frustration, others say from mental collapse. He left Jamaica, collaborated with musicians around the world, toured as a sort of mystic trickster/shaman and prospered. But Lee “Scratch” Perry’s work at Black Ark will always stand as his ultimate creative achievement.

ABOUT HOLO HOLO MUSIC FESTIVAL
Holo Holo Music Festival was born from a love of island and reggae music—a genre deeply rooted in connection, culture, and movement. The festival first set sail in 2022 at Frost Amphitheater at Stanford University, bringing together fans to celebrate the vibrant sounds of the islands. With the spirit of holo holo—meaning "to travel, to sail, to move"—the event quickly expanded, reaching new shores in Las Vegas and Sacramento in 2023. By 2024, its journey continued with a highly anticipated stop in San Diego.
Now, in 2025, we’re excited to take Holo Holo even further, bringing the music and community to Oceanside, Las Vegas, Sacramento, Tacoma, and San Diego! As we continue to move and grow, the festival remains a space for connection—where fans can gather for two days of unforgettable performances, incredible food, and the shared love of island and reggae music.
For Good Vibez Presents co-owner Dan Sheehan, Holo Holo is more than just a festival—it’s a reflection of his roots. “Growing up in Ewa Beach, O‘ahu, island music and reggae were the soundtracks of my childhood. These styles—the heartbeat of the islands—are the backbone of my work as a festival producer and venue owner. A big part of Good Vibez Presents is about discovery, and I’m honored to showcase and celebrate these artists at Holo Holo Festivals.”
For over 25 years, Good Vibez Presents has produced hundreds of immersive, multidimensional concerts and festivals across the West Coast, Hawaii, Arizona, North Carolina, and Mexico. They are the driving force behind the California Roots Music & Arts Festival in Monterey, the largest reggae-rock festival in the country. With a deep commitment to supporting nonprofits, small businesses, and creatives, Good Vibez Presents continues to build events that foster community, uplift artists, and spread positivity.
Holo Holo Music Festival is more than just a gathering—it’s a journey. Enjoy a weekend of incredible music and good vibes! Choose the Holo Holo that is right for you!
